Food for the soil is a company that is focusing on reducing food waste by working with residents, businesses, schools, restaurants, and municipalities. We are giving alternative options to groups by teaching composting classes, offering composters and digesters, and identifying new options for food waste in a cost effective manner.
Food waste can create compost, also known as black gold. It helps to prevent erosion, adds nutrients and beneficial micro-organisms to soil, helps soil retain moisture to supply to plants, and assists in preventing disease in plants and turf (lawns, golf courses).
We are working on a project in Camden NJ to help create a community garden where there is a food bank, church and a school. This will serve as an opportunity to offer fresh vegetables to the community and to teach gardening skills to empower the community to grow their own delicious, healthy food.
